This Girl (Slammed, #3)

This Girl (Slammed, #3) - Colleen Hoover I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Let me preface this by saying that it would be a 5 star, except I'm not a huge fan of rereading the same story from the other person's POV. In fact I did have a tendency to skim over the parts of the story that had already been explored in Slammed.

This story was super cute. I like that while it was a retelling of Slammed, it was set on their honeymoon, thus it went past the point of where Slammed ended (thank goodness cause I HAD to know how Lake and Will's life worked out). I also really appreciated that Julia had as big of a role as she did.

One of the best things that I think Ms. Hoover did for this book was downplaying Vaughn is this part of the story. By stating Vaughn was just ok, that Will did love her, however that love was nothing compared to how he felt about Lake, that said more to me than had she bad mouthed Vaughn. Same for when Lake and Will do finally have sex, and he tells her that it's his first time making love, vs having sex. That totally made me melt.

There really isn't any negatives I have about this story, other than that it is essentially a retelling of Slammed. And even for a retelling, it was really good. I felt so invested in Lake and Will's story. Ms. Hoover really made me care about them. And the creativity that she put into the slams is really impressive. Then again, I'm terrible at poetry so that may not mean much coming from me, but I enjoyed reading them. I'm sad to see Lake and Will's story end, but I am also glad that it's not going to be ruined by dragging it out either. The story was wrapped up (and made me tear up too) nicely and I couldn't ask for more for these two characters.
